Rush: 8.4

Manufactured by Monster Beverage Company in California, this energy drink is simply known as Monster. It was the original drink marketed in a 16-ounce can, which was practically twice the size of all the other energy drinks at that time. Becoming very popular the monster energy drink can be found in most supermarket and gas stations in the United States and Canada. Because of its larger size compared to the other leading energy company, red bull, most teens prefer the monster energy drink.

In 2006, the Monster Beverage Company discontinued including Vitamin C into their Monster Energy Drinks. The reason given to customers was:

"The FDA warned all beverage companies that placing Vitamin C in a soda beverage may lead to increased levels of benzene in the can. We tested all our beverages and we did not have this problem but the FDA scare was serious to our loyal consumers who did not want to worry about any potential benzene. So we took out Vitamin C to ease all the concern."

The Monster energy drink has a citrus taste, which most individuals find satisfying. The cost of this drink is normally $1.99 per can and available at most grocery stores or gas stations. Another option would be to upgrade to the XXL version, which is 23.5 ounces, and costing around $3.49. The slam of energy from this monster is pretty decent.
