Energy Drinks
All energy drinks contain a fair amount of caffeine or other stimulants, in some cases maybe even both. Those other stimulants would include guarana, ephedrine and ginseng. Having an energy drink is the same as having a cup of coffee, they both contain about eighty milligrams of caffeine. These drinks are marketed to the age group of twenty-five and younger and it is to that age group that most of these energy drinks are sold. It is mostly college and school students that buy this drink on a regular basis.
I think everybody enjoys an energy drink every now and then, when they are feeling a bit lazy or they are recovering from a night of heavy drinking. But it's okay, there's nothing wrong with an energy drink, right? Well actually that would depend on how you are drinking it. Not every one responds to the use of caffeine the same way. Energy drinks to some people may seem like just a drink to quench your thirst every now and then but in actual fact energy drinks are extremely powerful and if too much has been ingested it can speed up your heart rate and leave your blood pressure sky high, which may result in heart palpitations.
It is also known to keep you awake, that's why it is not advised to have an energy drink at least three hours before you go to bed. Never drink energy drinks when you are exercising, because when you sweat you are loosing fluids in your body and combining that with the diuretic quality coming from the caffeine in the drink will leave you severely dehydrated. It is always best to drink water when exercising.
Energy drinks are not bad for you, if you drink it the right way. Just don't drink it too often or while you are exercising and never, ever mix an energy drink with alcohol. It may sound great to mix the two together seen as alcohol is a depressant and an energy drink is a stimulant, but this is indeed extremely dangerous. With the stimulant you will not realize how much alcohol you have consumed and will just keep on drinking even though you are way past your limit. Your body normally tells you by fatigue that you have had enough alcohol for the night but not if you are drinking it with an energy drink.
